Meg Stalter made a striking appearance at the Emmys red carpet by dressing as the iconic golden Emmy statue. The “Hacks” star, known for her unconventional red carpet looks with co-creator Paul W. Downs, completed the outfit with matching golden skin, wings, and the statue’s signature globe. Downs accompanied her in a traditional tuxedo.
This isn’t the first time Stalter and Downs have collaborated on memorable red carpet fashion. In January, they attended the Critics Choice Awards dressed in the bright orange outfits worn by Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner at the “Marty Supreme” premiere. Stalter recently explained their approach to red carpet appearances in an interview with *The New Yorker*. “I think it happened because we loved to improv with each other,” she said. “I feel like I like to do a lot of bits in general, on the red carpet or events, and the orange outfits opened up a world.”
Stalter and Downs enjoy creating these moments for fans. “Paul and I had so much fun together doing that that we were just, like, ‘Why wouldn’t we want to do something weird every time?’” she continued. “I think it’s one of those things where, if there’s an opportunity to bring my comedy, I’ll take it. If at stage door people are there waiting to meet you, why wouldn’t we do something funny like dress as nurses? They all have their cameras out. They’re all ready to meet us and laugh. It’s more fun for us. Why not?”
Stalter’s appearance comes as “Hacks” wraps its fifth and final season. The series has received 24 Emmy nominations this year.
