Zendaya showcased a new pixie cut and a beauty look inspired by late-1990s red carpet trends at the 2026 Emmys held at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater on Monday night. Celebrity makeup artist Ernesto Casillas and hairstylist Coree Moreno detailed the process and inspiration behind the look.
The “Euphoria” star wore a custom crystal-covered Prada gown paired with glowing skin, frosted eyes, and a glossy nude lip. Casillas, using an entirely Prada Beauty lineup, said he was inspired by the crystals on Zendaya’s dress to “maximize the glow and play with both frosty and satin textures with the makeup.” He described the look as “a callback to late ’90s makeup on the red carpets.”
Casillas prepped Zendaya’s skin with Prada’s Augmented Skin Essence, Augmented Skin Cream, and Augmented Skin Eye Cream. He then used the brand’s Reveal Skin Optimizing Foundation in MW55 and Blurring + Micro-Correcting Concealer in MN5. For color, he layered Prada’s Touch Cream-to-Powder Blush in Tulip and Cherry, followed by Light Glowing Highlighting Powder in Pink, Champagne, and Champagne Deep. The look was finished with Prada’s Reset Rebalancing Setting Powder.
The ’90s influence was most apparent in the eye makeup, which featured Prada’s Dimensions Holo Nude Eyeshadow in 08 Pansy, Pradalines Durable Gliding Eye Pencil in Wood, and Pradascope Lash Extending Mascara in Nero. The lip look combined Prada’s Monochrome Soft Matte lipstick in Tiepolo with Reflection Glossy Liquid Balm in Blushware, creating a blend of the era’s brown-nude lip and modern glossy finishes.
Hairstylist Coree Moreno styled Zendaya’s newly cropped pixie cut using ghd tools. He described the style as “a classic pixie reimagined through a modern, editorial lens,” adding “a little rebellion” to the refined silhouette. Moreno used the ghd Speed hair dryer and ghd Sculpt flat iron to shape and lift the cut, creating piece-y texture and height at the crown. He finalized the look by pinching and separating the crown and fringe with his fingers to achieve an airy texture.
