South Korean sales company Finecut has secured new distribution deals across Asia for three films featuring K-pop idols, alongside additional sales for a previously released movie. The deals cover territories including Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.
“After-School Exorcism Club: Girls’ Night,” starring Fifty Fifty’s Keena, Chanelle Moon, Yewon, Hana and Athena, has been picked up for distribution in Indonesia (Catchplay+), Singapore (Shaw Organisation), and Taiwan (Cola Films). The film, directed by Jung Zoo, follows five high school students investigating a spirit possessing their campus. It premiered at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and opened in Singapore in mid-August.
“Wi-Fi Love in the Palace,” based on the Kakao Page webtoon of the same name, has been acquired by Japan (KDDI Corporation), Indonesia (Catchplay+), and Taiwan (Cola Films). The film stars The Boyz’s Younghoon, alongside Luda and Kim Dong-jun. It centers on a webtoon artist and a palace maid whose stories connect through a mysterious cabinet linking the present and the past. Chang Tae-you serves as chief creative director, with Sa Seok-choon directing.
“Wind Up: The Movie,” featuring NCT members Jeno and Jaemin, has expanded its reach to Hong Kong and Macao through Emperor Cinemas. This adds to existing deals in the CIS (Best Cinema), inflight entertainment (Bofrato), Japan (KDDI Corporation), Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia (Purple Plan), Taiwan (Caichang International), and Thailand (Sahamongkolfilm International).
All three titles originate from Kitz, TakeOne Company’s K-pop content platform, as part of a broader strategy to develop multi-format intellectual property. Finecut will present these titles at Broadcast Worldwide (BCWW) and the Toronto Film Festival market, along with other properties including animated feature “Long Long Night,” webtoon adaptation “Guardians of the Video Game,” noir action film “Tristes Tropiques,” and “Dora.”
