Ellen Pompeo is set to lead the upcoming Hulu drama series, “Not a Sound,” based on Heather Gudenkauf’s novel. The series follows a disgraced ER nurse who loses her hearing and becomes entangled in a murder mystery.
The series will center on Amelia Winn, a former ER nurse who loses her hearing in a hit-and-run accident. When Winn and her service dog discover the body of a former colleague, she is drawn into a “deadly mystery that could finally reveal the truth about the accident that changed her life,” according to the description.
“Not a Sound” is written by Matthew Tinker and Annakate Chappell, with Azazel Jacobs directing. Tinker serves as president of David E. Kelley Productions, and Chappell executive produces alongside Jacobs, Kelley, and Tinker. Pompeo and Laura Holstein will also executive produce via Calamity Jane. The project is a 20th Television production and falls under Pompeo’s overall deal with the studio.
Pompeo is currently starring in “Grey’s Anatomy” and executive produces the spinoff series “Station 19.” She is also an executive producer on an upcoming “Grey’s” offshoot set in West Texas, scheduled to premiere in midseason 2027. Additionally, her true crime anthology series “Good American Family” has been renewed by Hulu for a second season, and the streamer has ordered a dramedy pilot starring and executive produced by Pompeo titled “Chicks.”
