Former Woodland High School standout and Anna Maria College head football coach, Tanner Kingsley, has been appointed offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) football team. This move comes less than four months after Anna Maria College announced its permanent closure in the spring of 2026, resulting in the end of Kingsley’s tenure as head coach.
Kingsley announced the position on X (formerly Twitter) on August 11, stating, "New 🏠. New opportunity. Day 1 of camp tomorrow, ready to go! @MITFootball #RollTech." MIT, coached by Brian Bubna, finished last season with a 6-3 record, including a 4-3 mark in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. The Engineers closed the season with four consecutive wins, averaging 27.8 points per game.
Kingsley’s journey includes playing football at Central Connecticut State University and Anna Maria before transitioning to coaching. He began his coaching career at Anna Maria College in 2021 as the quarterbacks coach under Dan Mulrooney. He later became the offensive coordinator under Steve Croce before being named head coach for the 2025 season. Reflecting on the closure of Anna Maria, Kingsley shared on X on April 24, "Being the Head Coach of @AMCAT_Football has been an honor. The relationships built over the last 5 years I will cherish forever. We were in year 2 of the build. Coming off a championship in our first season in the @mascacsports conference."
He continued, "To the guys I coached over the years, I hope I made half the impact on your lives that you've made on mine. I got love for every single one of you. To the seniors, thank you for buying into a young coach and a new standard." Kingsley expressed gratitude for the opportunity Mulrooney gave him when he was 23 years old, marking the start of his coaching career.
