NEW YORK (AP) — Jackson Chourio hit two home runs and drove in four runs as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the New York Mets 8-2 on Thursday night. Jacob Misiorowski earned the win for Milwaukee, despite some command issues.
Chourio went 4 for 5 with four runs scored, launching two-run shots off Sean Manaea in the first inning and Xzavion Curry in the eighth. This marked his third two-homer game of the season and fifth of his career, including one in the 2024 playoffs against the Mets. Andrew Vaughn, Gary Sánchez, William Contreras, and Cooper Pratt each added an RBI for the Brewers, who improved to 83-51, holding a three-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in the major leagues.
Misiorowski (14-5) allowed two hits and struck out six over six innings. Both hits came in the fifth inning, with Jacob Young hitting an RBI double and Christopher Morel adding a run-scoring single. Misiorowski’s pitches reached 100 mph nine times, but none hit 101 mph. He walked two batters, continuing a recent trend after issuing four walks in seven starts from July 2 through August 15.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy discussed issues with Misiorowski’s footing on the mound with crew chief Vic Carapazza during the third inning, after a walk to Morel following a walk to Francisco Alvarez. The grounds crew worked on the mound before the bottom of the fourth inning. Manaea (4-6) gave up six runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. Milwaukee won two of the three games played in the series.
