CBS has temporarily shut down the live feeds for its reality show *Big Brother* to conceal an “unprecedented twist” coinciding with the show’s 1,000th episode. Host Julie Chen Moonves announced that the remaining houseguests will be transported to a medieval setting, the year 1000, to compete in challenges.
The twist will eliminate the usual Head of Household, Veto Competition, and Block Buster competitions. Chen Moonves stated, “But when all is said and done, someone’s game will come to an end before the next live eviction.” The competition will feature appearances by *Big Brother* alumni Britney Haynes (BB12 & BB14), Tiffany Mitchell (BB23), Cody Calafiore (BB16 & BB22), and Keanu Soto (BB27) atop a medieval castle.
The live feeds will remain down for three days, until after the episode airing on Sunday, August 30. Chen Moonves encouraged viewers to “Put your screens away, go outside, smell the flowers.” The decision to cut the live feeds, a key component of the *Big Brother* franchise, is expected to frustrate some fans, particularly those who subscribe to Paramount+ for access to the feeds.
