CF Montréal and Vancouver Whitecaps FC will face off in the decisive Leg 2 of their 2026 Canadian Championship semifinal series on Wednesday. The teams are tied 1-1 from the first leg, with the winner advancing to the tournament final and earning a berth in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup.
The match will be held at Stade Saputo in Montréal, Québec, at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT. If the aggregate score remains tied after 90 minutes, the semifinal will proceed to extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shootout. CF Montréal defeated Calgary Blizzard SC 5-0 in the Preliminary Round and Vancouver FC 4-2 in the Quarterfinals to reach this stage. Vancouver received a bye in the Preliminary Round and defeated Calvary FC 5-2 in the Quarterfinals.
Dani Pereira scored Montréal’s goal in Leg 1, while Ryan Gauld equalized for Vancouver. Montréal is seeking their first Canadian Championship final appearance since 2023, having won the tournament five times, including in 2021. Despite their struggles in MLS, where they currently sit last in the Eastern Conference with a -20 goal differential, Montréal boasts Prince Owusu, who is among the league’s top scorers with 13 goals and 5 assists, alongside Alexis Sánchez.
Vancouver, currently first in the Western Conference with a three-point lead, are four-time defending champions. However, they may be without star midfielder Thomas Müller, who is nursing a quad injury. Müller has 14 goal contributions this season (7 goals, 7 assists).
