The Lansing State Journal is asking readers to vote for the boys high school athlete of the week for the period of September 7-12. Three athletes are in contention: Rylen Richey of Grand Ledge cross country, Gibson Rondy of Ithaca football, and Noah West of Lansing Catholic tennis.
Rylen Richey finished as the runner-up at the Averill Invitational on Saturday, September 12, with a time of 16:42.4. He currently holds the third-fastest time in the area at 16:01.9.
Gibson Rondy, a senior quarterback for Ithaca, completed 9-of-10 passes for 305 yards and four touchdowns in a 63-7 win over Saginaw Nouvel. Through three weeks of the season, Rondy has completed 37-of-39 passes for 777 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Noah West of Lansing Catholic contributed to victories over Eaton Rapids and Charlotte. He won his No. 1 singles matches 6-0, 6-0 against Charlotte and 6-1, 6-0 against Eaton Rapids, helping his team achieve 7-1 and 8-0 wins respectively.
Voting is open until noon on Wednesday, September 16. Individuals with nominations for future LSJ athlete of the week consideration can send them to [email protected] by Sunday evening each week.
