Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. is optimistic about playing in the team’s first regular-season game against the Atlanta Falcons. He has been sidelined with an injury throughout the preseason.
The Steelers traded for Pittman Jr. this offseason to provide a legitimate starting receiver opposite DK Metcalf and alleviate some of the pressure on him in the passing game. Pittman addressed the media after Monday’s practice, offering an optimistic update regarding his availability for the Falcons game, stating he wants to play.
The Steelers also sat Metcalf and quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the entirety of the preseason. The team needs these players to gain game experience to shake off rust and build chemistry to improve upon last season’s offensive performance. If the Steelers want to get off to a hot start, they need their best players on the field.
