Liverpool has signed goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Genk, a move lauded as a parting gift from outgoing official Richard Hughes. Brughmans, described as an “absolute freak” talent, will remain on loan at Genk for the time being.
The Reds paid a record fee for a player under 23 to acquire Brughmans. In his first game following the announcement of the transfer, Brughmans was named Man of the Match against Anderlecht, making several impressive saves.
Brughmans is 6'7" tall with “freakishly long limbs” and large hands. The signing is seen as a sign of Liverpool’s building excitement under manager Andoni Iraola, who is guiding the team through a period of transition.
