Serie A club Fiorentina has dismissed manager Fabio Grosso after just three months in the role, replacing him with Paolo Vanoli, who was previously sacked from the same position. This move continues a pattern of instability at the Florence-based club.
Fiorentina’s issues began after Raffaele Palladino left following a promising first season, reportedly due to disagreements over the club’s project direction. He replaced Vincenzo Italiano. Despite a bright outlook, Palladino went public with his concerns, signaling a broken relationship with the club. Instead of building around a consistent vision, Fiorentina appointed Stefano Pioli, fresh off a spell at Al Nassr, a move seen by many as misaligned with the club’s goals.
The dismissal of Pioli proved difficult, with compensation talks lasting for days. Vanoli then took over, guiding Fiorentina to a 15th-place finish – eight points clear of relegation – and a victory over Juventus. However, new sporting director Fabio Paratici sought a “new project,” leading to Vanoli’s dismissal and Grosso’s appointment. Grosso struggled to establish a consistent lineup in his three games, with Fiorentina scoring only one goal – an own goal from Lucas Perri.
