Stephen Graham has been confirmed to star in Michael Mann’s upcoming sequel to the 1995 film *Heat*. The film will also feature Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Jason Clarke, and Odessa Young. Graham is rumored to portray a younger version of Neil McCauley, the role originally played by Robert De Niro.
Mann is directing *Heat 2*, which is based on the novel he co-authored with Meg Gardiner. DiCaprio is expected to play Chris Shiherlis, the character previously portrayed by Val Kilmer, while Bale is reportedly cast as LAPD detective Vincent Hanna, originally played by Al Pacino. The story will explore the early lives of both McCauley and Hanna, as well as Shiherlis’s experiences following the events of the first film.
Producers on *Heat 2* include Michael Mann, Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ Jerry Bruckheimer, UA’s Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt. Eric Roth and Shane Salerno will executive produce. The original *Heat* grossed over $187 million worldwide and is considered highly influential. The *Heat 2* novel was published in 2022.
Graham’s recent work includes Netflix’s *Adolescence* and the Disney+ series *A Thousand Blows* through his Matriarch Productions. He is currently promoting Florian Zeller’s *Bunker* at the Venice Film Festival and will appear in the Apple TV series *Nocturne* in October. He is represented by Independent Talent, Link Entertainment and Public Eye Communications.
