The GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) 13.5 was released today, incorporating more than 265 bug fixes. This release marks the end of the GCC 13 series, with developers now focusing on newer versions like GCC 16, which debuted earlier this year.
GCC 13, initially released in April 2023, introduced support for AMD Zen 4 “znver4” processors, numerous new Intel CPU targets, and Modula-2 language support. It also included advancements in C23 and C++23 features. Over the past year, developers have collected and addressed over 265 bugs within the GCC 13 branch, though many are described as low impact.
The GCC 13 branch is now closed to further development. Users are encouraged to upgrade to newer GNU Compiler Collection versions, with GCC 16 currently being the latest stable release.
