Wrexham, fresh off a historic European win, are targeting a domestic treble in the upcoming Adran Premier season. Captain Jodie Bartle has stated the team’s ambition to build on last season’s success and remain the top team in Wales.
The Red Dragons won the Adran Premier and Adran Trophy in 2025-2026, but were denied the treble by Cardiff City’s victory in the Welsh Cup. Wrexham recently became the first Welsh women’s team in seven years to win a European match, defeating FC Pyunik 4-2 in their Champions League debut. “The treble is definitely my goal and I think all the girls would agree,” Bartle said. “Every single season we say we want to become the best team in Wales, we did that last season, we want to compete and continue to hold that title.” Wrexham begin their league defense at home against Aberystwyth Town.
Cardiff City, under new manager Noah Bushby, are also aiming for the top spot after finishing second last season. Midfielder Lily Billingham expressed the team’s determination, stating, “I can't wait to get going. The competitiveness looks great for the league. Obviously we are disappointed with the result of the league standing last year but if anything it has made us want to work harder and get to the top spot again.” Cardiff’s campaign begins with a south Wales derby against Swansea City.
Swansea finished in the top three last season but have yet to secure silverware, losing in the Welsh Cup final on penalties. Defender Jess Williams said the team reflected on this and “on everyone's sheet of paper was silverware.” The New Saints, bolstered by signings Abbie Iddenden and Hannah Snape, start with an away match against Cardiff Met. Goalkeeper Mackenzie Haydn-Jones stated, “We've had a really positive pre-season, so looking forward to hitting the ground running and seeing what we can achieve.”
Cardiff Met return to the top flight after winning the Adran South title. Midfielder Olivia Barnes said the team’s focus is on survival. Briton Ferry Llansawel, who finished fifth last season, hope to break into the top four under new manager Mark Murison, having signed Katy Hosford, a four-time Adran Premier title winner. They begin their season with a trip to Barry Town United. Sixteen-year-old forward Freya Peyton stated, “I've been ready to go as soon as the season ended.”
