Three sons of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei attended his funeral in Tehran, while his reported successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, was not present. The coffin of Ali Khamenei was displayed alongside those of his daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and 14-month-old granddaughter on Saturday.
The ceremonies for the former leader are taking place over a week of mass funeral processions across Iran. According to reports, Mojtaba Khamenei is said to have been injured in the February 28th attack that killed his father and other family members, and there has been no public sighting or image released of him since.
The coffin of Ali Khamenei was displayed outdoors under glass with those of other deceased family members. The funeral processions will conclude on July 9, when Ali Khamenei is to be buried at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad.
