The Shotcut video editor’s 26.9 beta version is now available, bringing improvements to user interface design, audio quality, and performance. The update also includes a new logo and is powered by FFmpeg 9.0.
Shotcut 26.9 beta focuses on enhancing audio quality by maintaining a 32-bit float mode throughout the pipeline, avoiding conversion of 16-bit integer data. Performance improvements have also been made to the Timeline functionality within the application.
The user interface has been modernized with rounded corners and other refinements. Additionally, the beta version integrates FFmpeg 9.0, which resolves VA-API HEVC hardware encoding issues on Linux systems, alongside other fixes and improvements.
The Shotcut 26.9 beta is available for download from GitHub, offering source code under the GPLv3 license, as well as builds for Linux (AppImage x86_64 and generic x86_64), macOS, and Windows.
