Paul Walker’s brother, Cody Walker, does not want to be involved in bringing back his late brother’s character, Brian O’Conner, for Universal’s upcoming “Fast Forever” movie, despite the potential use of artificial intelligence. He believes the decision should rest with Paul’s daughter, Meadow.
Cody Walker told Entertainment Weekly that AI “was not a thing back in 2014,” referring to the time following Paul Walker’s death in a car crash, “so they could do that.” He noted the existence of unused footage from previous “Fast” films that could be utilized. He also stated he is “not interested” in returning as a stunt double. “My stance is, it’s what Meadow wants to see done; it’s her father,” Walker said. “I would not be interested in doing that again. I love the way his character exited the franchise.”
Cody and his brother Caleb previously stood in for Paul Walker to complete “Furious 7” with the aid of visual effects, providing his character with a graceful exit. While Caleb Walker expressed openness to a cameo in 2018, Cody’s current position differs.
Vin Diesel, however, has expressed a desire to bring Brian O’Conner back for the final installment, scheduled for release on March 17, 2028. Diesel told Vanity Fair in 2025 that reuniting Dom and Brian was one of three conditions he had for the finale. Cody Walker acknowledged Diesel’s passion, stating, “The guy is incredible, he’s extremely gifted, he takes this very seriously and there’s a mountain on Vin’s shoulders. He wants this to be the best one and as good as it can be because it’s the final [one].” He admitted he doesn’t know what to expect regarding Paul’s potential appearance in the film.
