MIAM! Distribution announced the acquisition of two new animated TV series and a TV special at Unifrance Rendez-Vous, bolstering its commitment to showcasing distinctive creative voices and stories. The company’s acquisition strategy focuses on independent producers and creators with fresh perspectives, exploring themes of identity, belonging, diversity, and representation.
Among the new acquisitions is “Sevens,” a 13x22-minute character-driven kids’ series inspired by the real-life journey of French international rugby player Séraphine Okemba. The series, currently in development with France Télévisions and expected to deliver by the end of 2028, follows Rose, a middle-school girl who starts a female rugby team, emphasizing the values of solidarity, trust, and empowerment. According to Okemba, “Rugby is a sport built on values… Within a team, players learn solidarity, mutual support and trust in yourself and others.” The show is co-directed by Guillaume Lorin and Vinnie Ann Bose.
MIAM! Distribution also acquired “Queerstory,” a 20x6-minute young adult doc series created by Iris Miské. The series aims to highlight forgotten queer myths, blending humor, historical sources, and expert commentary. Miské states, “Queer people have always existed, all around the world,” and the series seeks to restore these legends to collective memory through inclusive perspectives. The series features a blend of rough-edged graphic design and pop-culture references.
