Three players were recognized for their performances on Day 2 of the 74th Annual Kiwanis Football Jamboree, held Friday, August 28 at Cajun Field.
Notre Dame quarterback Parker Menard was named Player of the Game after leading his team to a 13-0 victory. Menard threw for nearly 100 yards and rushed for about 50 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown pass to Julian Duhon and a 35-yard rushing touchdown. “We put in all the work all offseason and we've been waiting for this. It felt amazing being out there as QB1. It's not all me. It's my team. I couldn't have done any of it without my blockers and without my wide receiver on that good block on the side,” Menard said.
Acadiana running back Dashun Lightfoot earned Player of the Game honors in Acadiana’s 22-14 win. Lightfoot rushed for approximately 130 yards, scoring a 68-yard rushing touchdown and a two-point conversion. The Arkansas State commit described his approach: “My coach taught me a quick stiff arm and once I got up to the sideline I did just that. I read off my blocks, cut back and I gotta score the touchdown. They taught us to hit the hole hard but I'm trying to change the game. Not only am I going to hit it hard, but I'm going to find a way to make a defender miss. Every single time.”
LCA quarterback Ty Hills was the final Player of the Game, leading his team to a 38-7 victory in their first Kiwanis Jamboree appearance. Hills showcased both passing and rushing ability, scoring a touchdown from about 10 yards out and connecting with Triston Jones for a touchdown pass.
