Lucien Laviscount, known for his role in “Emily in Paris,” has joined Daisy Ridley in the upcoming action-thriller “The Good Samaritan.” The film, directed by Pierre Morel and written by Matthew Ian Cirulnick, is set to begin production this fall.
The film follows successful entrepreneur Dr. Rosalind Carver (Ridley) and her husband Matt (Laviscount) after they rescue a wounded man off the coast of Indonesia. They unknowingly step into a deadly conspiracy when their yacht vanishes and Matt is abducted by pirates led by Langbore (Sharlto Copley). Imprisoned by corrupt officials, Rosalind teams up with ex-mercenary Sean Fuller (Josh Duhamel) to save her husband and expose a global trafficking empire.
Highland Film Group is handling international sales and has secured deals for the film in several territories, including Germany (Splendid Film), the U.K. (Vertigo Releasing), Spain (Key 2 Media), Italy (Blue Swan Entertainment), Benelux (Three Lines Pictures), Greece (Spentzos Film), Portugal (Cinemundo), Eastern Europe (Mediasquad), Turkey (ATV), the Middle East (Falcon Films), India (Lionsgate), Indonesia (Prima Entertainment), Taiwan (MovieCloud), Latin America (California Filmes), Canada (VVS Films), South Africa (Filmfinity), and airline rights (PictureWorks).
The film is produced by Mark Canton of Canton Entertainment, Oakhurst Entertainment, Renee Tab of Sentient Entertainment, and David Lipper and Bobby Daly of Latigo Films. Executive producers include Morel, Cirulnick, Ryan Winterstern, David Hopwood, Jeff Kranzdorf, Ralph Brescia, Dorothy Canton, Delphine Perrier and Arianne Fraser of Highland Film Group, with Karley Ferlic serving as a co-producer. Robert MacLean of Tribune Pictures is financing the project.
