Lenovo is releasing the IdeaPad Vibe, a productivity laptop designed to compete with the MacBook Neo. The Vibe will be available in 14- and 15-inch sizes and seven colors: dreamy violet, spicy gold, zen green, chill blue, radiant coral, moody blue, and lowkey gray. Pricing starts at $700, similar to the Neo.
The IdeaPad Vibe will initially launch with AMD and Qualcomm chip options in October and November, respectively. Intel versions, likely utilizing Wildcat Lake processors, will follow at a later date. Users will be able to customize the laptop with keycaps in any of the seven available colors, and separate keycap sets will also be available for purchase. Unlike the MacBook Neo, the Vibe’s keyboard will be backlit.
Lenovo describes the IdeaPad Vibe as an evolution of the IdeaPad Slim, featuring an all-metal chassis (though some colors will incorporate plastic) and a transition from a barrel plug charger to USB-C. The Vibe offers a wider array of ports than the MacBook Neo, including two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports (all 5Gbps), HDMI 1.4, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microSD card reader. Both the 14- and 15-inch models will standardly include IPS LCD panels, with select colors (gray and blue) offering an upgrade to a touchscreen OLED.
RAM configurations will start at 8GB, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X model supporting up to 24GB and the AMD Ryzen AI 400-series model offering up to 32GB of user-upgradeable dual-channel RAM. All configurations will offer up to 1TB of storage with user-accessible dual-slot SSDs.
