Jennifer Lawrence has spoken about her approach to cosmetic procedures, prioritizing her ability to emote as an actress. The Oscar winner stated she opts for “baby Botox” because she “need[s] to have movement in my face.” Her comments come amid industry discussion about the impact of cosmetic procedures on actresses’ ability to portray emotion on screen.
Lawrence told Vogue, “I can’t really get very much done. I need to have movement in my face — I get baby Botox, but I can’t do a lot. If my skin is going to be a little saggier than I would like, at least it looks dewy and pretty.” She also expressed reservations about fat transfers, stating she wants to “continue to watch and see what happens” with the procedure before trying it herself, but acknowledged she would like to have a buccal fat removal “just know that I want that.”
Olivia Wilde, director of “The Invite,” recently discussed the challenges of casting actresses who can still display a full range of facial expressions. In an interview with Vogue, Wilde noted it is “not easy” to find actresses who can move their faces, adding, “I am a product of the same machine. I am under the same pressures. I get it.” She described the pressure to appear ageless as “medieval,” stating, “There’s something so medieval about a lot of these things.”
Lawrence was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in “Die My Love” and is expected to reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming “Hunger Games” prequel, “Sunrise on the Reaping.” Her next major role will be alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s “What Happens at Night,” slated for release next year. She also mentioned she enjoys radiofrequency treatments, saying she uses them to “exercise” her cheeks.
