Jay-Z’s “Jay-Z30” tour kicked off at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London with surprise appearances by Lauryn Hill and Wyclef, creating a mini-Fugees reunion. The performance included their 1995 hit, “Ready or Not,” and a spotlight on South London rapper Giggs. The concert also coincided with Beyonce’s birthday, marked by the release of a 20th-anniversary edition of her 2006 album, “B’Day,” though she did not perform.
This London performance follows a series of shows at Yankee Stadium in July, which featured 19 guest artists including Beyonce, Blue Ivy, Rihanna, Eminem, Nas, Alicia Keys, Pharrell, Usher, Swizz Beatz, and Teyana Taylor. Jay-Z is scheduled to continue the tour with performances in Paris on September 10 at the Stade de France, and at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on October 23 and 24.
Earlier this year, Jay-Z returned to the stage with a headlining performance at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, bringing out guests including Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Memphis Bleek, Jazmine Sullivan, Bilal and Young Gunz. Additionally, Jay-Z will be the subject of an eight-part documentary series, “Jay-Z in 8,” directed by Rick Rubin, debuting on HBO this fall. The series will feature Rubin interviewing Jay-Z about his music, lyrics, life experiences, and creative process.
