J. Smith-Cameron will join the cast of “Law & Order: SVU” in a recurring role for the show’s 28th season. She will play jury consultant Gwen Sharpe.
The Emmy-nominated actor is known for her work as Gerri Kellman in HBO’s “Succession,” a role that earned her two Emmy nominations, a Golden Globe nomination, and a Critics Choice Award. She also won two SAG Awards for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Smith-Cameron will next appear in the FX series “Seven Sisters,” alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Cristin Milioti, and the film “In Our Sweet Way.” Her additional television credits include “Hacks,” “Elsbeth,” “Murdaugh: A Death in the Family,” “Rectify” and “Waco: The Aftermath.”
In 2024, Smith-Cameron made her West End stage debut in “Juno and the Paycock.” In 2023, she starred in “Love Letters” opposite Victor Garber at the Irish Repertory Theatre in New York.
Season 28 of “Law & Order: SVU” premieres on NBC on October 8 at 9 p.m. The series stars Mariska Hargitay as Captain Olivia Benson, alongside Ice T, Peter Scanavino, Kelli Giddish, Kevin Kane, Aimé Donna Kelly and Corey Cott. Dick Wolf created the show and serves as executive producer, with Michele Fazekas, Hargitay, Kenneth Brown, Rebecca McGill, Anastasia Puglisi and Peter Jankowski also serving as executive producers. The series is produced by Universal Television and Wolf Entertainment.
