Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights opened Thursday, featuring haunted houses themed after “Stranger Things 5,” “Sinners,” and other horror franchises. The event also includes roaming characters and themed food and beverage options.
The theme park’s annual Halloween Horror Nights kicked off with long lines forming quickly for the most popular attractions. Within 30 minutes of opening, the wait time for the “Sinners” haunted house reached 60 minutes. “Hellraiser” had a 50-minute wait, while “Killer Klowns From Outer Space,” “Evil Dead Burn” and “Killceañera: Music by Slash” each reached 30 minutes. “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness” reached 35 minutes, and “Stranger Things 5” and “Dead, Deader, Deadest” both had 25-minute waits.
Among the roaming characters scaring guests was a blood-soaked Nikki, portrayed by an actor, from the film “Obsession.” She approached visitors, telling them she loved them “so, so much” before disappearing back into the crowd.
The Lower Lot featured a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, including Ozzy’s Bar, which served themed cocktails like the Blizzard of Ozz-arita and the Ultimate Sin-ammon, and the naan taco, “Bark at the Naan.” Osbourne was featured in the “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness” haunted house, with different versions of the musician jumping out to scare visitors, including a bat carrying what appeared to be his head. The house also included a “Crazy Train” room with dead bodies along a train car while the song played.
The “Stranger Things 5” haunted house transported guests to Castle Byers and the Upside Down, where Vecna and a Demogorgon lurked. “Sinners,” based on Ryan Coogler’s film, recreated Club Juke in the Upper Lot, with characters like Mary, Annie and Pearline running rampant. A dedicated area for the game Fortnite also drew crowds. Halloween Horror Nights runs on select nights through November 1.
