The app is accessible via the Alt + Space keyboard shortcut, providing users with instant access to Gemini’s features regardless of their current task. Google states the app allows for quick fact-checking and idea generation. Gemini Spark functions as a 24/7 AI agent with access to connected apps, and the app offers image (Nano Banana) and video (Gemini Nano) generation capabilities. The window visually resembles the website, featuring a side panel for Notebooks and Recents, and is described as “lightweight and quiet.” Google indicates that additional native desktop capabilities are planned for future updates.
The Gemini app’s functionality mirrors the Mac version, also utilizing a keyboard shortcut for access. As of today, the app provides access to Gemini’s features, including image and video generation, and is available for download at gemini.google/desktop.
