Cesc Fabregas, manager of Como, has praised Barcelona’s current performance, describing it as “frightening” ahead of their Champions League meeting. Fabregas highlighted Barcelona’s ability to overcome tactical challenges, noting they “make you look bad” due to their consistent solutions.
Fabregas, a former Barcelona academy graduate and first-team player, observed Barcelona’s recent European victory over Feyenoord. He was particularly impressed by their adaptability, stating, “Barça make you look bad because they find a way out of every situation at all times. You can mark them man-to-man…but they find solutions from all angles.” He emphasized the high standard of players “whoever plays, they're of a very high standard. It's frightening, the level they're playing at right now is frightening.”
Speaking after Como’s 4-1 Champions League win against Leipzig, Fabregas stressed the need for tactical flexibility at the Champions League level. He explained, “In today's football, you have to be prepared for anything…There are matches you can win by playing the same way throughout, and there are others where you have to know how to handle certain moments.”
Como is scheduled to face Barcelona at Spotify Camp Nou on January 27. Fabregas acknowledged this will be a return to a familiar stadium but as an opposing manager. His comments reflect the respect Barcelona commands, even from those intimately familiar with the club. Como’s strong start to the Champions League campaign will be tested by Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.
