Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning defended quarterback Dante Moore after Moore missed a post-game press conference following a 39-31 loss to Oklahoma State. Lanning explained Moore was receiving IV fluids for dehydration and cramping.
Lanning responded heatedly to a question about Moore’s absence, stating, “I don't think he chose not to (attend), did you know he was getting an IV? He was getting two IVs after the game, he was dehydrated.” He questioned whether the questioner expected Moore to conduct an interview while receiving treatment, adding, “But I don't know, have you ever given an interview while you're getting an IV at the same time and getting treatment? Yeah, but does that make a little more sense?”
Lanning also stated Moore was cramping during the game, leading to immediate post-game treatment. He accused a media member of misconstruing the situation and sarcastically said, “good job.”
The Ducks face Portland State on September 18, where they are 58.5-point favorites according to FanDuel Sportsbook, before a September 26 game against USC. Oregon currently ranks near the bottom of Week 3’s top 25 power rankings.
