Ben McKenzie, who starred as Ryan Atwood in the teen drama ‘The O.C.’, has expressed interest in a potential revival of the series. He stated he would be “up for it, sure,” under the right circumstances, noting the show was “great” and a valuable experience.
The Fox series, which ran from 2003 to 2007, followed Ryan Atwood, a troubled teenager from Corona, who is taken in by public defender Sandy Cohen and his family in the affluent Orange County community. The show also featured Adam Brody, Mischa Barton, and Rachel Bilson. McKenzie recently shared his thoughts on a revival during an appearance on KIIS 1065.
While McKenzie said there haven’t been “serious talks” about a reboot, he remains open to the possibility. He described the experience of working on the show as positive, stating, “It was a great show. We had a great time. I learned a lot. I was so young, we were all young.” He added with enthusiasm, “Let’s make it happen.”
McKenzie noted that even though his own children are currently too young to watch ‘The O.C.’, his 10-year-old enjoyed it, and he frequently encounters young fans who have discovered the show through their parents. “I now have kids come up to me, teenagers, and they talk about what a fan they are of the show. ‘You weren’t even alive when it came out,’” McKenzie recounted, adding, “They watch it with their parents.”
