Bad Bunny won his first Primetime Emmy Award on Saturday for his performance at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show. The show received seven awards total, making it the most-awarded Super Bowl halftime show in Emmy history.
The Puerto Rican superstar won the award for outstanding variety special (live) as both lead performer and producer of *The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny* (NBC). This marks only the second Super Bowl Halftime Show to receive the top program Emmy. The first was the 2022 show starring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent.
Shawn Carter (Jay-Z), Desiree Perez, and Jesse Collins won as executive producers of both the 2022 and 2024 halftime shows. Dave Meyers served as co-executive producer for both performances. Other nominees in the category included the 83rd Annual Golden Globes, the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, The Oscars, and the 78th Annual Tony Awards.
The win comes seven months after Bad Bunny became the first artist to win album of the year at the Grammy Awards for a Spanish-language album, *DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS*. *The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny* won a total of seven Emmys, surpassing the 2022 hip-hop halftime show, which won three. It is also the first Spanish-language program to win outstanding variety special (live).
In addition to the variety special award, the show also won outstanding music direction; outstanding directing for a variety special; outstanding sound mixing for a variety series or special; outstanding choreography for variety or reality programming; outstanding lighting design/lighting direction for a special; and outstanding technical direction and camerawork for a special. Bad Bunny also won an Emmy for outstanding makeup for a variety, nonfiction or reality program for hosting the Season 51 opener of *Saturday Night Live*.
Taylor Swift was nominated for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) for *Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show* (Disney+), but lost to *The Muppet Show*. Sabrina Carpenter won her first Primetime Emmy as an executive producer and performer on *The Muppet Show*, alongside Maya Rudolph and Seth Rogen. Swift previously won a non-competitive Emmy in 2015 for outstanding creative achievement in interactive media for the AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience.
