American forward Cole Campbell scored in his first league match for Elversberg. Lukas Petkov and Campbell scored within the first nine minutes, and David Mokwa extended the lead in the second half. Leverkusen attempted a comeback with goals from Patrik Schick and Christian Kofane, but Elversberg held on for the victory. Elversberg was playing at the fourth-tier level until 2022 and earned promotion after finishing runner-up in Germany's second division.
