Abelardo de la Espriella, a Colombian defense attorney and businessman, won the first round of Colombia's presidential election on Sunday. De la Espriella will compete in a runoff election scheduled for June 21.

According to France24, Ivan Cepeda, a leftist senator, finished second in the first round of voting, following closely behind de la Espriella. Breitbart reported that de la Espriella's first-round victory places him in the lead position heading into the June 21 runoff.
The upcoming runoff election will determine Colombia's next president.
