Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” continues its dominance at the South Korean box office, surpassing 10 million admissions and earning $83.2 million as of September 6th. The film generated $5.9 million from 698,384 admissions over the weekend, capturing 60.92% of the market.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” held onto second place with $942,178 from 146,674 admissions, bringing its cumulative gross to $67.9 million from 8,792,026 viewers. Curry Barker’s “Obsession” debuted in third, earning $1.1 million from 138,447 admissions since its September 2nd opening, for a total of $1.4 million from 185,100 viewers.
The local family road-trip drama “The Journey to Gyeongju,” directed by Kim Mi-jo and starring Lee Jung-eun, Gong Hyo-jin, Park So-dam, Lee Yeon, and Byun Yo-han, secured fourth place with $359,527 from 49,417 admissions, accumulating $2.1 million from 297,594 admissions overall. “Portrait of a Family,” directed by Lee Ji-won and starring Ryu Seung-ryong and Ha Ji-won, opened in fifth, earning $286,526 from 40,835 admissions and $484,757 from 71,392 admissions since its September 2nd launch.
“Power Ballad” debuted in sixth place with $251,801 from 34,382 admissions, totaling $399,799 from 55,931 viewers since its September 2nd premiere. Animated sequel “Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone,” directed by Kim Soo-hoon, added $120,759 from 16,715 admissions, reaching a cumulative gross of $6 million from 858,707 admissions. The upcoming comedy-drama “The Intern” landed in eighth place with $91,227 from 11,989 admissions during early preview screenings. Toho’s anime mystery “Detective Conan the Movie: Fallen Angel of the Highway” placed ninth, collecting $60,695 from 7,953 admissions.
