Richard Osman inadvertently revealed the premiere date for the second season of “The Celebrity Traitors” during a live podcast recording. The new season, which features Bella Ramsey, Michael Sheen, and Richard E. Grant among others, is expected to be more intense than the first.
Speaking on-stage during The Rest Is Entertainment podcast in London, Osman stated that the show will premiere on September 23. He quickly clarified that this information was “absolutely embargoed,” indicating it was not yet meant for public release. A BBC insider joked about Joe Marler, a former England rugby player and Season 1 contestant, seemingly revealing the date while being interviewed on the podcast.
Marler, when asked for advice for future contestants, speculated on the premiere date, prompting Osman’s confirmation. He described the first season as “laugh-led” and relaxed, while suggesting the upcoming season will see contestants “really want it from the start” due to the success of the initial run.
Osman also shared that he’s heard from celebrities involved in Season 2 that filming “was quite intense.” Kate Phillips, BBC content chief, previously announced the new season would include “tears and surprises.” The cast includes The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey, Good Omens actor Michael Sheen, Oscar-nominated Richard E. Grant, Industry star Myha’la, Barbie actress Sharon Rooney, Love Island host Maya Jama, Broadchurch’s Julie Hesmondhalgh, and Jerry Hall.
The first season of “The Celebrity Traitors,” which saw comedian Alan Carr emerge victorious, was the most-watched show on British TV last year, averaging 14.9 million viewers with a peak of 15.4 million for the finale. The show is produced by Studio Lambert Scotland for BBC One and iPlayer.
