Episodes of “Shrinking,” “Paradise,” and “Washington Black” were among the winners of the 2026 Humanitas Prize, which honors film and television writers whose work meaningfully explores the human condition. The awards were presented at a ceremony hosted by Ashley Nicole Black at Avalon Hollywood.
The “Shrinking” Season 3 premiere, “My Bad,” featuring guest star Michael J. Fox, and the “Paradise” Season 2 premiere, “Graceland,” with guest star Shailene Woodley, received awards in the Drama and Comedy Teleplay categories, respectively. The episode “The Flying Man and the Musician” from the limited series “Washington Black” also earned a prize in the Limited Series Teleplay category.
Winnie Holzman, creator of “My So-Called Life” and a writer for “Wicked,” received the Kieser Award. Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick, executive producers of “Thirtysomething” who later worked on “My So-Called Life,” presented the award. The Humanitas Prize includes a trophy and a cash prize for winners.
