Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd, and Jaclyn Smith reunited at the 78th Emmy Awards to commemorate the 50th anniversary of “Charlie’s Angels” and honor the late Farrah Fawcett.
The trio received a standing ovation as they presented the award for best drama, which went to “The Pitt.” Before presenting, Jaclyn Smith paid tribute to Fawcett, stating, “As I said many times, she’s here and she’s here with us in everyone’s collective memory.” Kate Jackson added that Fawcett “was the shiniest angel of all, and she was loved by millions of people all over the world. And she still is today. And they’ll never forget her and neither will we. And I’m sure you won’t either.” Cheryl Ladd chimed in, noting, “Her iconic poster lives in the minds and the garages of many a man.”
“Charlie’s Angels,” created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts, originally aired from 1976 to 1981. Kate Jackson starred as Sabrina Duncan, Cheryl Ladd as Kristine “Kris” Munroe, and Jaclyn Smith as Kelly Garrett. The show centered around a detective agency run by a wealthy, unseen man named Charlie, who communicated via speakerphone, and his three female detectives who faced various challenges. The series received four Emmy nominations during its run: for outstanding achievement in film sound editing in 1977, Kate Jackson for lead actress in a drama series in 1977 and 1978, and David Doyle for supporting actor in a drama series in 1977.
Earlier this year, the three actresses gathered for a PaleyFest panel to celebrate the show’s anniversary. During the panel, Jackson recounted how the show came about. She was finishing up a role on “The Rookies” when executive producer Leonard Goldberg presented her with a project called “Alley Cats,” featuring three female private investigators who wore whips and chains. “Len said, ‘It’s available because all three networks have already passed it over,’” Jackson recalled. “That sounds like a real winner!”
The 2026 Emmy Awards were presented by Mariska Hargitay, who recently won two awards for her documentary “My Mom Jayne: A Film by Mariska Hargitay.”
