Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” has generated $50 million in domestic pre-sales, three months before its December 18 release. The film, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, features a large ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and several stars from the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises.
The Walt Disney Company announced the pre-sale figures on Wednesday, with senior executive VP & Chief Financial Officer Hugh Johnston sharing the data at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference. Over 70% of these pre-sales are for tickets to theaters equipped with “Infinity Vision,” Disney’s new premium large format certification, which aims to deliver “the biggest, brightest and most immersive cinematic experiences.”
“Avengers: Doomsday” will see the return of several actors to their Marvel Cinematic Universe roles. Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role despite his character Tony Stark/Iron Man’s death in “Avengers: Endgame,” and Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers/Captain America after his departure in the same film. Other returning stars include Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Simu Liu as Shang-Chi.
The film also marks the official integration of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men characters into the MCU, with Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Channing Tatum as Gambit all appearing. The cast of the “Fantastic Four: First Steps,” including Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, will also be featured. Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, Wyatt Russell, and Hannah John-Kamen, from the “Thunderbolts” series, are also set to appear.
Marvel has launched “Countdown to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Official Podcast,” which will cover five films from the Infinity Saga: “The Avengers” (debuted August 27), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (September 3), “Captain America: Civil War” (September 10), “Avengers: Infinity War” (September 17), and “Avengers: Endgame” (September 24). All five films are currently available on Disney+. The fifth episode of the podcast will coincide with the September 25, 2026, re-release of “Avengers Endgame: Encore” in theaters.
