System of a Down has released “Johnny” on streaming platforms for the first time as part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of their album *Toxicity*. The track previously appeared only on international editions of the album and a U.K. 7-inch single with “Chop Suey!”
The album *Toxicity*, produced by Rick Rubin, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 on September 4, 2001, coinciding with the September 11th attacks, which impacted the initial rollout of the lead single, “Chop Suey!” despite its success as the band’s first song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. All three singles from *Toxicity* – “Chop Suey!,” “Toxicity,” and “Aerials” – reached the Billboard Hot 100, with “Aerials” topping both Billboard’s Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock charts.
*Toxicity* is certified seven-times platinum in the U.S., two-times platinum in the U.K., and has sold an estimated 15 million units worldwide. As of May, “Chop Suey!” has surpassed 2 billion streams on Spotify. A 25th-anniversary reissue of *Toxicity* is available for preorder, pressed on red smoke-colored vinyl and bundled with a one-sided 7-inch featuring “Johnny” on the A-side and a custom “25” etching on the B-side. The reissue corrects a longstanding tracklist error by officially crediting the hidden closing track, previously known as “Arto,” as “Der Voghormia,” a traditional Armenian hymn. The package also includes a custom double-sided poster.
