Stoke Space and Relativity Space are simultaneously developing Launch Complexes 14 and 16 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to support launches of their respective reusable rockets, Nova and Terran R. Work at LC-14 is nearing completion, while LC-16 is undergoing a major rebuild.
Launch Complexes 14 and 16, located near each other on what is known as Missile Row, are being prepared for the Nova, a fully reusable medium-lift rocket from Stoke Space, and the Terran R, a partially reusable heavy-lift rocket from Relativity Space. Launch Complex 15 between them is expected to remain inactive. Recent aerial views show LC-14 appearing nearly ready for launches, while LC-16 remains in the midst of significant reconstruction.
LC-14 is a rebuilt Mercury-era complex featuring a compact footprint and a red tower reminiscent of the site that launched John Glenn in February 1962. Stoke Space has completed proto-qualification and structural verification of Nova’s first stage and is currently building and testing first-flight hardware, with second-stage work proceeding in parallel. The company anticipates bringing Nova hardware to the Space Coast and launching later this year or early next year, pending vehicle progress.
Relativity Space’s Launch Complex 16 is undergoing a more extensive overhaul, having already supported a single Terran 1 flight in 2023. Crews are installing lightning towers and transitioning from civil construction to activation. The Horizontal Integration Facility is energized, with its bridge crane passing a proof-load test, and the transporter-erector’s upper strongback is installed. Rails for the transporter-erector are in place, and the site has live power via two 22 kV feeds, with work wrapping up on water, propellant, and the transporter-erector itself. Relativity has completed structural qualification of Terran R’s first stage, and the second stage has undergone cryoproof testing and is being prepared for a hot fire at NASA’s Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. Engine integration has begun on the first-flight booster’s thrust structure, which is also expected to undergo hot-fire testing at Stennis. Relativity is currently targeting a Terran R launch in late 2026, a timeline described as ambitious.
