Sandra Bullock has suggested a third ‘Practical Magic’ film could be made if the upcoming sequel is successful. She also expressed a desire to transition the franchise to the actresses playing her character’s daughters.
The sequel, ‘Practical Magic 2’, premieres on September 10 and sees Bullock reprise her role as Sally Owens alongside Nicole Kidman. The film is directed by Susanne Bier and is based on Alice Hoffman’s 2021 novel, ‘The Book of Magic’, a follow-up to her 1995 novel ‘Practical Magic’. The story centers on the Owens sisters confronting a curse that threatens their family.
Bullock told Vanity Fair, “We’ll do a number three if this takes off,” adding, “And we’ll pass the torch to the girls.” Joey King and Maisie Williams star as Kylie and Antonia, Sally’s daughters, taking over the roles previously held by Evan Rachel Wood and Alexandra Artrip in the 1998 original.
The script for ‘Practical Magic 2’ was written by Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett, and Kelly Marcel. Hoffman has also penned prequel novels, ‘The Rules of Magic’ (2017) and ‘Magic Lessons’ (2020), which explore the Owens family history, potentially offering further storylines for the franchise.
