NVIDIA has announced its acquisition of Hugging Face for $12,930,300,000 USD. The deal aims to strengthen Hugging Face’s infrastructure and expand access to artificial intelligence for developers and organizations globally.
According to the announcement, Hugging Face will continue to operate as a platform for sharing large language models and datasets. Jensen Huang, in a post announcing the acquisition, stated, “Hugging Face will remain an open platform for the entire AI ecosystem. Developers will choose the models they want, the frameworks they want, the clouds and inference service providers they want and the computing platforms they want. NVIDIA compute will not be required to build on or deploy through Hugging Face.”
Hugging Face will continue to support open source and open weight models from all developers, and will maintain multi-cloud and multi-accelerator development and deployment options, allowing builders to utilize the hardware and infrastructure that best suits their needs.
