High school football players from Morris and Sussex counties are vying for the title of Player of the Week following Week 1 performances. Fans can vote for their top choice until Thursday at 5 p.m.
Several players delivered standout performances. Cioffi, a sophomore quarterback, completed 14 of 17 passes for 160 yards and five touchdowns in a 52-14 win over Christ the King (NY) on September 4. The Crimson scored their most points in a single game since October 5, 2024. Cotter, a junior running back, rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-0 victory over Hackettstown on September 3, also contributing seven tackles and a sack.
Falco, a junior quarterback, rushed for 204 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-20 win over Morris Knolls on September 4. His 11-yard touchdown pass to Kiefer Lopez and a 78-yard touchdown run helped secure a 2-0 start for the Gaels. Frayne, a junior running back, rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-0 win over Morristown on September 4, adding a 70-yard touchdown catch.
Irby-Mason, a senior running back, scored three rushing touchdowns in a 28-12 win over Erasmus Hall (NY) on September 4, marking the first time a Green Wave player has achieved this since 2024. Delbarton secured a 2-0 start to the season. Johnson, a junior defensive lineman, recorded three sacks and 11 tackles in a 21-15 win over Cardinal Hayes (NY) on September 5, helping Pope John win against the Cardinals for the first time since 2022.
Kelly, a senior running back, rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns in a 12-6 win over North Warren on September 4, leading Parsippany to consecutive wins for the first time since the end of 2024. Lieberwirth, a senior running back/linebacker, rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns in a 20-13 win over Parsippany Hills on September 4, also leading Mendham’s defense with 16 tackles.
Longo, a senior running back, rushed for 208 yards and two touchdowns in Mount Olive’s 55-0 win over Randolph on September 4, and also caught a 28-yard touchdown pass. Mount Olive has scored over 40 points six times since 2025.
