Liverpool scouts reportedly attended Friday night’s Ligue 1 match between Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco to observe midfielder Lamine Camara, a player the club considered during the summer transfer window.
Earlier this week, reports indicated that Liverpool officials requested Monaco delay a proposed £47m transfer of Camara to Chelsea, a deal which ultimately fell through. Monaco’s sporting director, Thiago Scuro, allegedly informed the 22-year-old that a major transfer would occur 'very soon,' potentially to retain him for the current season before allowing a move in 2027.
Camara played a “significant role” in Monaco’s 2-1 victory over PSG, a result that contributed to PSG’s difficult start to the campaign. According to Sofascore, Camara won 12 duels during the match. Liverpool remains “long-term admirers” of the Senegal international and is “closely” monitoring his situation.
The club will be unable to sign Camara until at least January, providing them with further opportunities to evaluate his performance. If Camara maintains his level of play, Liverpool intends to be a leading contender to bring him to England in 2027.
