Chelsea’s Marco Palestra was not included in the squad for their match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. The defender recently stated he is recovering from an injury and expects to return for a future game.
Palestra was absent from the starting lineup as Chelsea faced Arsenal. Riccardo Calafiori started at left-back for Arsenal.
Palestra spoke with Sky Sport, with quotes via TuttoMercatoWeb, and stated, “I'm fine. My recovery is still a few days away but I feel much better.” He had been aiming to recover in time for the Arsenal game.
Palestra was named to the Serie A team of the year for the 25/26 campaign following a loan spell with Cagliari. Both Inter and Chelsea expressed interest in signing the Italy international after his successful season with Cagliari and his parent club, Atalanta.
Palestra is expected to return to the Chelsea squad for either the midweek EFL Cup game against Leeds or next weekend’s league game against Hull City.
