Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement for the transfer of Bradley Barcola, with a reported fee of £106 million plus £17 million in add-ons. Transfer reporter Alex Crook revealed the financial details on X. The deal is expected to be finalized before Tuesday’s deadline.
Alongside the Barcola acquisition, Liverpool appears set to retain Cody Gakpo. Andoni Iraola, though not directly quoted, indicated reluctance to guarantee Gakpo’s future, but Alex Crook stated Gakpo is unlikely to be sold unless Liverpool signs another forward in addition to Barcola. Gakpo recently scored in Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Newcastle.
Liverpool was initially facing a potential cost of €170m (£145.5m) for Barcola, but secured the deal for up to £123m overall. While a substantial fee, it is considered astute given the current market for wide attackers, Barcola’s ability, and Liverpool’s need to replace Mo Salah. The transfer is anticipated to be completed well before the deadline, avoiding a repeat of last year’s late Alexander Isak saga.
The potential double win of signing Barcola and keeping Gakpo would be a significant boost for Liverpool in the final days of the transfer window.
