Following significant roster changes including the acquisition of Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Miami Heat are considering bringing back former guard Gabe Vincent. According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, “I would expect them to go guard for one of their final spots. I think a Gabe Vincent reunion there makes a lot of sense, especially since Bam Adebayo and Erik Spoelstra have been big advocates for him ever since Summer League.” Siegel believes the Heat would likely offer Vincent a minimum contract if he is willing to accept it.
The Heat recently traded Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, and multiple picks for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis. They also added Tim Hardaway Jr., Klay Thompson, and Nick Richards in free agency. Despite these additions, the team recognizes the need for further strengthening, particularly in the backcourt.
Vincent, a 6’2” veteran, is described as a capable shooter who fits within an offensive system. While he appeared in only 53 games last season due to injury, he provides scoring potential, averaging 6.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game on 39.2% shooting throughout his career. His prior experience with the Heat is seen as a benefit, ensuring a smooth transition.
The Heat are shifting their focus from rebuilding to contention around Antetokounmpo, and adding Vincent on a veteran’s minimum contract would be a logical move if he can contribute to that goal.
