YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Noah Kim threw for two touchdowns and ran for another Saturday night, leading Eastern Michigan to a 28-17 victory over Sacramento State. The win marked the Eagles' 500th program victory as they began their 135th season.
Kim completed 27 of 38 passes for 279 yards. He scored on a 5-yard run, and connected with Santonyo Isaac for a 40-yard touchdown and Nick Devereaux for a 31-yard score. Braydon Bennett also rushed for a 7-yard touchdown.
This was Sacramento State's first game at the Football Bowl Subdivision level and the debut for head coach Alonzo Carter. The Hornets are a member of the Mid-American Conference in football but compete in the Big West Conference in all other sports. Carson Conklin went 25-for-46 for 221 yards for Sacramento State, but was intercepted once by Jason Marshall.
Sacramento State’s Xavier Williams returned a fumble by Kim 29 yards for a touchdown. Isaiah Ene ran for a 37-yard touchdown during a 75-yard drive, but Sacramento State could not capitalize further. Conklin was intercepted by Marshall in EMU territory on their final possession.
Eastern Michigan will next host San Jose State on Friday. Sacramento State will host Mississippi Valley State on Saturday.
