The LA Galaxy suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday night, marking their fourth shutout since the resumption of play following the World Cup break. Poor miscues proved costly for the Galaxy, contributing to all three goals conceded.
Brian White opened the scoring for Vancouver in the eighth minute, capitalizing on a turnover by Julian Aude and skillfully maneuvering past Galaxy defender Jakob Glesnes. Despite early chances, the Whitecaps maintained a 1-0 lead into halftime, with Galaxy goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski playing a key role in keeping the game competitive.
Early in the second half, Ryan Gauld extended Vancouver’s lead to 2-0 in the 57th minute after a botched pass to Erik Thommy created an opportunity. The Galaxy continued to push offensively, led by Kyōgo Furuhashi, but were unable to overcome the mounting pressure. Vancouver sealed the victory with a penalty kick converted by Bruno Caicedo in the 90th minute, following a poor tackle by Emiro Garces.
The Galaxy currently sit one point away from a playoff spot, tied with two other teams. They will next host the Seattle Sounders on Saturday.
