The filmmaker, known for his work in horror, is releasing ‘Ice Cream Man’ with no studio interference. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the script had been circulating for more than two decades before Roth decided to move forward with it independently as part of his new company's launch.
Roth also discussed his film ‘Obsession,’ hoping the industry will recognize its value. He stated, “More than twenty years after co-writing a script everyone said was too subversive to be made, the filmmaker launches his genre-driven media company with that very movie (and no studio notes).” This suggests Roth intends to prioritize creative freedom and pursue projects deemed risky by traditional studios through his new venture.
